Runnin' Through The Bone Yard 5K
On Saturday, October 25th, I participated in a really fun Halloween 5k in American Fork! The AF Chamber of Commerce put it on and it was a blast! Almost everyone was dressed in some sort of costume or Halloween inspired outfit. I was impressed how some people ran in their costumes. There was a huge pac man being chased by the huge pac man monster, the 2 girls who ran the whole race in the same pair of huge pants (they ran fast too), and various other wigs and costumes that would have driven me crazy in the first 5 minutes of the race!
The course was fairly flat and part of the fun was that the run was at night and the course took you through the graveyard! It was pitch black and I was glad that I thought ahead and brought a small flashlight. There were people dressed like trees along the road in the graveyard who as you passed them would jump out and scare you. It was great! I finished the race in 27:30 which is my best 5k so far.
David brought the babies all dressed up in their Halloween outfits and I crossed the finish line with them! They were sooooo cute!

Hutch Henrie Donation
An account has been set up for the support of Kara Henrie and her baby at Zions Bank. You do not need an account number to donate. Just send (or drop off) donations directly to any Zions Bank to the Hutch Henrie Donation Account.
I have decided to run the Salt Lake Marathon as a fundraiser to help this family. If you can help, please do!

In Memory of Hutch Henrie
Sunday morning on the way home from church, I received a call from my boss that my co-worker and friend, Hutch Henrie, was tragically killed in a rollover accident on Saturday night. His wife, Kara, who we found out later, is pregnant with their first child, was not injured in the accident. She was wearing her seat belt, Hutch unfortunately was not and he was ejected from the car.
Energy Strategies will be starting a fund to help Kara and her baby. I will post info for anyone who wishes to donate once the fund is established.

My Marathon Training- Week 2
This Saturday was much warmer than last Saturday, so it was perfect weather for a run. The plan was to do 7 miles again this week, but some of the group decided to do 10 miles. When it came time for us 7 milers to turn around and head back, I felt pretty good and decided to try to do 10 miles! My legs were very tired towards the end (I think because I was going to slow), but I did it!
Next week is the Halloween 5K, so I'll get a break from the long runs.....for now!

My Official Marathon Training Begins!- Week 1
Today I began my official Marathon training! I have been running a lot of 5Ks but I really want to take on the Marathon. I joined the Galloway running group (a training group my sister used to train and run 12 marathons and I found a chapter here in Salt Lake).
Since today was my first day out, I was a little nervous. They are in the last weeks of their "season" and they don't officially start up again until next month, but they told me I could come early if I wanted since they finished the St. George Marathon last weekend and would be running short distances.
The most I have been running is a 5k, but I do run every other day. When they told me that the training run was 7 miles, I wasn't sure if I could do it, but I did! 7 Miles! And it wasn't as hard as I thought. I am totally motivated to take on this challenge!

Visiting Miss Lillie in Hotlanta!
Last weekend I headed to Atlanta to see my mom. It is the first time I have seen her since she came home and as you can tell, she looks a lot better! She has her hospital bed in the living room where she can (with help) get into her wheelchair. She is working hard in hopes she will one day walk again. She keeps saying she needs to get better so she could go back to work. We keep telling her that she is now retired, but she wants out of that bed!
Mom's Birthday is on October 13th, but we had an early party for her since I was there.
After the run spike got a bath. As I was drying him off, he fell asleep in my arms like a baby! Sweet little lamb!
Let's not forget how excited I was to see little Spike Whitworth! He is so fat and cute. I can't believe how old he is. he was just a baby when I got him! I went for a run and decided to take Spike with me. He was huffing and puffing, but he made it... little fatty!
