12 More Days!!!

In less than 2 weeks, I will toe the line at the New York City Marathon!! I am really excited but also a little scared. My training was interrupted while dealing with the loss of my mom and those fears of not being ready are there. When I think of it they are there before every race. My goal for NYC is not to set a personal record, but to savor and enjoy every painful minute of the experience. The NYC marathon is one of the toughest to get into. Over 100,000 enter, only 43,000 get in. I feel blessed for the opportunity to run. Who knows if the chance will come again?

I will run this race in memory/honor of my mom. She was there both times my sister ran the NYC marathon and so wanted to be there to watch me. She was so excited when I got in. I ordered a special shirt to wear with her photo on it. I know she will be lending me her angel wings when it gets tough (which I hope is no earlier than mile 22 ;-) )

At this point my training is what it is. Now I just need to pray for good weather.

It's Time to Get Back on the Horse!

This past few weeks has been torture for me. I have had no energy or desire to ANYTHING, let alone run. I have been looking forward to the NYC Marathon all year, but am now feeling scared that the 2 weeks without running much will hurt me.

Tomorrow I am running with a few friends in hope I can get back on track! My mom was always a HUGE support to my running. NYC was and still will be run for her. I will need her wings more than ever this time.

Miss Lillie's Memorial Service

On Saturday, October 3rd, family and friends gathered for my mom's memorial service held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Winder, GA. It was a beautiful sunny day.
